Savage Predator XP Rifle

Never used that one but I have had several Savage rifles over the years and all have been decent shooters.

Ive been hunting coyotes for years and you don't need any camo on your rifle, in fact you dont even need como clothing it when your hunting coyotes. Keeping still, quiet and watching wind trumps camo every time. Now there is nothing wrong with having a camo good due to looks if you desire but you can save some cash going with the tried and true "stock" look.

Cheers!!

I'm not familiar with the XP model, however I do have two Savages for 'Yote rigs.
Predator Brush in .243 (Accu-Trigger only)
Predator Max1 in 22-250 (Accu-Stock& Accu-Trigger)

This .243 really likes the 75gr-90gr range with plans for 87gr VMax under Varget.

Planned loads for the 250 is/are 50gr VMax or 55gr Sierra Blitzkings also under Varget.

Coming off an A-Bolt, I'm really impressed with the quality and accuracy out of the box. While they don't cycle the action as nice as nice as the A-Bolt, their groupings more than make up for that. The Accu-Triggers are a nice touch, being able to set them as light or heavy as you prefer. Mine are both set on the lighter side.

They're not light rigs by-any-means, but that wasn't a prerequisite on my end. Were i to do it again, only thing I'd change is maybe a 204 Ruger or 6.5 Creedmore in order to space out my Cals more evenly.

Overall, I'd recommend either of these Models to anyone who asks.

My 'yote rig is also a Predator Max 1 in 243. I have it outfit with a Burris E1 scope. With Nosler 70 varmint ballistic tips at 37.5 H335, it is one deadly flat shooting coyote gobbling pill. I like this rifle, it is very accurate, sturdy and has not had anything go wrong in about 100 shots so far. I also like the Weatherby (30-06, 308) and Remington Varmint (223) products.

The only way to save the hide is to hit them from the front, otherwise big holes mark the exit of that fantastic little bullet. All were between 230 to 350 yards. The first one was hit straight on. These were 4 of the 6 I got today. The other three dropped like stones. One shot, one devastating kill.

Nice shooting. I have one of those in .223 and really like it. I used the Max 1 stock in a long action build for a .257AI and it's pretty good too. I like Savage products.

I forgot to mention one small point, if you purchase a Savage, make sure you get one with the accustock. I am quite impressed with mine as that particular stock really delivers on the promises. The shots are very consistent for the longer ranges I am shooting at and I believe it to be the result of the additional advantages of the heavier barrel and the accustock (which are both furnished on my rifle). My Remington with a pillar bedded Hogue stock and heavy barrel has noticeably tighter groups than my Weatherby S2 (in 223). My Savage has noticeably tighter groupings than my sons Weatherby Vanguard.

On Savage's website, the XP rifle does not come with the accustock. You should give careful consideration to this point as well.

Thanks point taken ...

+1 on the Accu-Stock recommendation by sobo. While the Accu-Trigger is nice, I don't feel it's the be all & end-all of accuracy.

The accu-stock is the gimmic... the accutrigger is the real deal go to the savage shooters forum/site they have great info there on all things savage. If you don't chose a model with the accu-trig then at least hold back some $ and order a replacement trigger from basix you be happy you did!
ps: imo you can't go wrong with a savage!
