Finally got some time to put together my PRS trainer. This is a Savage SA in 223 (used to be a 6XC and could be again). Had several factory take offs so thought this would make a great/cheap way to learn positional shooting.
This is a Boyds Pro Varmint stock in Camo laminate. Laser Stippling on the forend and grip. Limbsaver pad takes care of the recoil. More mods will follow as I figure out ideas for barricade stops and supports
CDI DBM inletted into the stock to run polymer mags... AI and MDT.
STAC3-16X42 LRMOA that was used on the Rem 783 is easily transfered over because I will use EGW rails on all rifles.. slot spacing and height stays constant... zero obviously isn't
In keeping with the inexpensive practise, I loaded up some Hornady 22cal 55gr FMJ's... of all the FMJ's I have shot, these continue to be the most accuracte and from this factory pipe, it didn't dissappoint. 100yds testing today.
Win cases, ball powder from Higginson... I will be able to mass produce on a progressive press.
Give me something to learn over the winter months...
The weight of this Savage and my Rem 783 are a few ounces apart. Stocks are identical, ergonomics are identical, bolt cycling is near identical, triggers are similar. And they can share prefits..
Make for a nice combo.
