A fella I'm working with has a 25 WSSM, for ammo availability reasons he's looking at trading or selling, but no one wants it, does anyone know if the action is the same as the short action 308 family, or the bigger threaded WSM family?

I'm thinking his best option is to find a 300WSM or .243 barrel for it, I guess the WSM would at least also need a different mag, the 308 also bolt face.

Without knowing what model it is I can't be 100%. It should be a large shank action and will have a wsm bolt face. Options are pretty open depending on what you want to spend. A prefit barrel can be done in any chambering you want with a large shank, bolt faces are easy to find. Factory barrel options are limited to wsm chamberings. And if it has a detach mag all you need is mag off the gun store shelf.

Just talked to him, turns out I was confused, he has a savage .223, but the .25WSSM is a Winchester model 70!

I'm curious now what can be done with it.

So, if anyone has some suggestions? I'm think rebarrel or rebore/rechamber to .300WSM makes the most sense, though not a cheap path, maybe he'll trade or sell it on the cheap
