I have a brand new savage rascal 22 youth for my son , its been misfiring with every kind of ammo i put threw it , extremely fustrated with this gun i habe had many savage rifles and this by far is the worst . It takes 4 -5 primer strikes to get it to fire . From my research this is a very commom problem with these guns but no one seema to have a fix for this . I have read of ppl taking the firing pin out and making a point on it to make it have a more harder strike on the primer ! Gun was purchased over a yr ago from a local dealer but was only used recently . And yes i have degreased the hell out of it and still no luck . My dealer won't do anything for us since its has been a yr already . I have tried cci , winchester , rem etc... With the same results.

^ see thread above. There is a solution, you have read about it already - either file down the firing pin or try to find a stiffer spring.

I'd try the stiffer spring first, as that is instantly reversible if it doesn't help. Messing with the firing pin is not reversible and IMHO should only be tried second. What does the imprint of the firing pin look like now? Square, rectangle? Do you have a picture of a spent shell that has the firing pin print on it? The shape of the end does make a difference, but if the pin is not long enough, or the spring is not strong enough, removing material will not help any.

Again, look at the thread listed above - I linked and others linked pictures of before and after firing pin filings. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...avage-Rascal-problems?highlight=Savage+rascal
