Savage Rascal bolt disassembly

Anyone have a link to any sites that show how to disassemble the bolt to remove the firing pin from a savage rascal? Getting week primmer strikes and would like to try filing it down as I've read on several sites. Just hoping for some guidance so I don't break anything. Can't find anything Rascal specific on line.

All the Savage rimfire rifles I've seen have the same bolt. Rascal included. So this should work for you;

Have you given it a good soak in a cleaning solvent? The dozen or so Savage rifles my club uses for the Junior program all work just fine. At most they produce about 1:100 for light strikes. Some dunking and draining and working things using something like Ed's Red so it leaves behind a light oil for protection and lubrication should do the job nicely.
 
If you search for my name and rascal here you should find some pics. Also, you might want to consider calling Savage. They are great to deal with and most likely repair your issue for free. IIRC, I filed the firing pin to about half the thickness it was.
 
Thanks, I've had it for over a year now so I'm not sure if they would do anything under warranty and I'm 3 hours north of North Bay so I would have to ship it. About 50% of the rounds were unfired. Thought it was the ammo, the cold, need to be cleaned. Realized I could still fire all the duds in different rifles. Found out online it's s a known issue. Had so many issues with the Rascal that my daughter doesn't want to shoot it anymore. Not what I wanted for her first rifle.
 
Just a follow-up for anyone that was interested in this thread. I ended up sending the Rascal in for repairs to Savage. They returned it with a new bolt. The firing pin on the replacement bolt is noticeably thinner than the original, about half as thick. The paper work with it stated they test fired 10 out of 10 at the factory.
No charge for the repairs other than the $25 for the initial shipping cost. I will get out this weekend to try and put a box of ammo through it.
 
I also have the same to say as "theguy" I have a Stevens 300f that is several years old and it was giving light strikes. I disassembled the bolt looking for burrs and gave it a good cleaning. I was still getting light strikes so I emailed Savage Canada with a parts request. They told me they couldn't ship the parts I would like but if I wanted to send in the rifle they would make things right. I got it back with a new bolt, springs etc. as well as an extra magazine. I am very satisfied with their service and wish other companies were as good to deal with.
 
I just took the 1 pin out that holds the firing pin in place and filed the tip of the pin to about half the thickness and problem solved. No more ftf.
