I picked up one for my 10 year old son. Great tool to teach him shooting. I like the fact that there is a peep sight on it. Im able to teach him how to safely handle the fire arm and at the same time teach the proper shooting habits. Its nice and compact for him with the short LOP and best of all, its cheap.

my 7 and 10 year old kids have one. they love it!. my daughter got to shoot a semi though and after that; she doesnt seem as interested in shooting the bolt gun and wants me to get her a semi
 
Great to hear we are getting the young shooters trained, God bless all of us who want to pass down the hunting and shooting to the new generation. Funny thing is the manufactures are making guns for kids. years ago we had to take an old Coey and cut the stock to fit the kids. I still got my daughter single shot FN Might pass it on to the grand kids LOL

Well, I did find a single shot Sureshot (made by Cooey) last year for my nieces and that's what I did exactly. For 65$ including taxes, it was hard to beat! :)
 
I picked one up for my daughter about a month ago from my local CTC that was clearing them for $149. We took it out tonight for the first time and had some issues with fail-to-fires on CCI Quiet rounds from a box that functioned flawlessly in my Henry. Every one fired on the second strike after lifting the hammer to re-####. Has anybody else had one that had light firing pin strikes, or other issues affecting firing?
 
I bought myself one just because I never had anything like that as a kid. I think I am going through my second childhood. Wish such a gun was around when my daughter was growing up instead of a regular size gun.

No issues. My father in law picked one up a couple years ago when my daughter was born and since we're put a couple boxes through it. No problems.

Mine fails to fire occasionally. Happens with various brands of ammo. Adjusting to a heavier trigger pull seemed to help but didn't make the problem go away. YMMV.
 
Thanks for that. My daughter is 6 and I started her on the pink Daisy (probably the same one mentioned by the girl in the article) las summer to get her started on the basics.

I don't think she'll be quite ready for a .22 this year, but you never know - we'll see how it goes. It's one of those questions rattling around the back of my brain and I'm filing information away for future use.

Yeah - two of them needed changing striker springs - the ones that they sent me to replace them were considerably stronger.

I do really like the little Rascals - they spent time engineering them for the little people, but still work fine for the big kids too. Remember how difficult it was to #### the old single shot .22s when our fingers lacked strength - and how hard it was to sight the post and notch and how heavy that single shot was on a little boys arms? They fixed all that in the Rascal - and lots of other little things too. Oh - and how hard it was to safely decock and how hard it was to line up a .22 short to get it into the chamber. I wonder about having a hook on it to fit onto my belt - it could hang there while trapping or walking in the bush.
 
I bought a pink Rascal a few months ago for a little one that is still a little too young for it, but I'm planning ahead. I've played with it and I have to admit, I love it! No problems... Yet. It sure is fun for such little gun.

Yes it's pink, but I'm secure enough that I can still take it to the range and enjoy testing it. Great Little gun! :)
 
I also bought a pink one for my oldest daughter on her 6th birthday (few years back now). I was impressed with the quality and accuracy, FWIW. Found it hard to train her on the peep sight though, but that is just her. Plenty of kids take to the peep sights right off.
 
I bought the pink one for my girls to start shooting this year. It is way easier for them to handle than the pink Daisy 1998. As that is a full length stock and barrel. And the Rascal is actually scaled down for kids.

I put the bore sighter on it changed the wind age and it's a little tack driver. I shot it and had fun. Nice and smooth and the added bipod I put on it is great. I love them peep so much so that I'm going to get a Skinner receiver mount peep for my BL-22.
 
I have been looking at getting something like this as well. The Henry and Cricket are also something that I may look at. I like the Savage but the Cricket appears to be built better. My son is 7 so pretty soon I should take him out with me. Who makes good kids earmuffs and glasses? Seems like all that stuff is adult size.
