Savage Rascal Scope Rings Height and Scope Mount ?

Hello Savage Rascal Owners,

Anyone have scopes mounted on their Savage Rascal?

Looking into putting a decent quality scope on mine and would like to ask what you guys have on. Probably get one of the low end versions from Bushnell, Redfield, Simmons etc.

1) What Scope Mount are you using ?

2) What height of rings are you using ?


Any info is much appreciated.

Hey AP man~recently solved this puzzle myself! Started with Weaver bases (don't remember the part #) that the Interweb told me would work. Bolt wouldn't clear them. Savage came-out with Rascal-specific bases that DO fit, but, since the receiver is so small...it put the rings so close together that there was ZERO front-to-back adjustment of the scope's position for eye relief. About to give-up, I discovered back in April/May that EGW now made a base/rail for the Rascal so I ordered one from a CGN sponsor. Took forever, but here it is!

So....EGW base for the Savage Rascal, Leupold Rifleman rings MED height, and a vintage Bushnell Scopechief fixed 2.5x More trouble than I hoped it would be, but all is right with the world now.

I just have the Rascal dovetail mounts on mine. Same as the regular Savage mounts, but higher to clear the bolt. OK for the RGB dot sight on mine.
