Savage Rascal Scope Suggestions

You will need to purchase Savage rings for the Rascal in order to have the bolt handle not strike the ocular bell of any modern scope you buy. I splurged and put a Leupold 4x28 rimfire scope on my boys' "sniper rifle".

Savage rings? Or do you mean bases? I haven't scoped my lil guy's rascal yet but do have the specific bases for it.

I have the base on order at the gunstore. The Weaver web site did not list it but the gunsmith in towns computer could find it. Another fellow on here used 4024 bases and they worked but they are not available till late summer around here I am told. I have a 2.5 -10 power scope for mine since I have nothing else to put it on.

Get a 3-9X32mm Leapers Bug Buster... best scope made for these little .22's... a solid, inexpensive optic, that will focus down to "3 yards!" I have used many of them on various air rifles and rimfire.

I'm considering one of those Bug Busters for one of my .22s right now. A buddy of mine just got one for his 10/22 take-down and loves it. Our family "Racal" wears an old Scopechief, fixed 2.5 or 3x, an EGW Savage Rascal Base (Prophet River) and Leupold Rifleman "low" rings.

My son putting some CCI Quiet 22 down range...busting sitting clay pigeons. :)

D+L Airguns carries the Bugbuster. Neat little scope, I have a 6x on a modded Crosman 2240 and a 3-9 for future use. Crosshairs are a little thick.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, have a question.
I notice that you have removed the rear peep sight.
Is that so the scope will clear it?

I also am trying to put scope on my daughters. I'm using savage base and just bought the weaver medium rings. Found out the Simmons 4x does not clear the rear sight.
Is removing the rear sight the way to go? Or getting weaver high rings?

Thanks in advance.

i slapped on fixed power scorpion scope on my "daughters" rascal, quotes as its become one of my fav grouse guns.lol, but as others have mentioned, buy the savage rascal bases otherwise the bolt wont clear the bell on the scope

I have the savage rascal bases, as mentioned I tried to put the weaver medium rings on them, and my 4x fixed Simmons scope is hitting the rear sight.

A little off topic here but a good spot to ask. Anyone else find the safety on their rascal really sticks and is hard to disengage? My 11 year old has no issue with it but my 3 year old has a hard time with enough strength in her thumb. Maybe it is designed that way for extra safety....at least that is what I've always chalked it up to.
