Savage Releases New Axis II

The easiest way to upgrade an Axis is simply to buy a 10-110 or 11-111 in the first place. The whole point of an Axis is to be as cheap as possible. If you want something better, get a better gun. Please don't put a turbo on your Geo Metro. Simply my opinion of course....

I've owned more Savages than any other brand. About the only difference I found between the Axis and the 11/111 was the stock was slightly better (stiffer) on the 11/111 and the accutrigger. Both my Axis and 11/111 shoot the exact same.

Seriously?

There are A LOT more differences than that...

Some people's knowledge of firearms extends simply to group size. Some people are absolutely ignorant of all else...

This is why savage has any kind of market at all.

I was talking about the handling the rifle, not the actual build of the rifle.

Yes the receiver and bolt are different. Oh and I forgot the detachable box mag of the 111 model. My mistake.

They both have the same barrel.

They shoot the same.

Of course I think of rifles in grouping size! That's what I want out of a rifle! If it shoots the exact same as a model that costs a couple hundred more then guess what I'll buy? The 111 is built a little better but it still acts the same as the Axis which I paid $200 less than what I did for my 111! Just the same as my Savage 10FP shoots the same as my 10FCP-SR yet does so for cheaper at the cost of a few features and maybe a little quality.

Should I even mention my Norinco NP22 that shoots just as well as my real Sig Sauer for half the price? :p

I'm thinking of picking one up as a general hunting rifle in .308. Any better choices in the price range?

Savage Axis is about as inexpensive as they come. Though, I think the Ruger American is also close in price. I went with a Remington 700 for a .308 rifle. It is the SPS Varmint with heavy 26" barrel since I will be shooting it prone or off a bench. I also chose the R700 because everyone knows how to fix it, it's been around for a long time, parts are available, after market mods and upgrades are endless........ my 2cents.
