Hey guys~I'm on the prowl for a CZ452 in 17M2 and while that has turned-up nothing...I'm finding some 17M2 alternatives. Marlin and Savage mostly. I've only ever spoken to one person who had a Savage in 17M2 and he had serious accuracy issues with that rifle. Wondering if his may have been the exception, but they're mostly good...?

The H&R in 17M2 would be a serious temptation too...but they seem to be even less common.

I have the Marlin 17M2 as well but have never shot it. Started working on it and haven't had time to get back and finish it. Too many things on the go .
Scott...

I had a Savage but sold it. I still have a Marlin and a CZ. They are all very accurate. If I had to pick one I would say my Marlin heavy out shoots my CZ by a hair.

I have an older savage heavy barrel non accutrigger. Absolutely love it. Extremely accurate. At 200 yards it will shoot thru a 2x4". I'm only about 2" lower at 200 yards than my buddies 17 hmr.
Whatever brand you get keep calling Hornady and cci asking to make another run of ammo
I'd buy another savage in a heartbeat

I have had three Savage HM2's and two CZ HM2's and done a couple 77/22 conversions as well as a 10/22 conversion... the Savage rifles were just as accurate as the CZ's, and one of them was the most accurate rifle that I ever owned... putting five rounds through the same tiny hole @ 100 yards and doing it consistently... I "eyeballed" three grouse with three shots from 75-90 yards, when out sighting it in... it was a really nice little shooter.

I picked up a Marlin and found that it shoots quite well, I've only got about 25 rounds through it. I've managed to expand my 17M2 ammo stash to just under 2K rounds so I ordered a Lilja barrel for a 455.

Hoyt, I love the purple Ruger!!!

Was it me you were talking to about the bunk savage in hm2? If ammo was more available and cheaper and better rifles around I might consider another one. As it sits with the current cost of ammo and limited selection of rifles I won't be adding another.

I have owned a Marlin Heavy barrel, a Ruger 77/17, and a Ruger 10/22 conversion in addition to my Cooper. The Ruger77/17 shot the worst until I swapped the barrel for a Green Mountain barrel, and then it became second most accurate of the four. One friend has two Savages, and another friend has a CZ452, and having shot all of these rifles with Eley and Hornady ammunition, the Cooper/Eley combination is the most accurate of all. The CZ452/Eley combination was second, but it was very close after the Cooper.

That purple actually looks damn good!

I have a lh HB Savage pre-accutrigger. Very accurate and reliable. Also have two 10-22 conversions, one with a GM fluted medium sporter barrel, the other with a VQ SS .920" barrel.

Had and sold a Marlin 717 a few years back as well. Have given up in my search for a lh CZ 452.

I have one savage-3 Marlins and 2 H&Rs all in .17M2. The savage with the accutrigger would do 1/2" groups att 100m-the Marlins about 1" and the same with the H&Rs.
Still the most outstanding rim fire round IMHO!!
