I have spent the last year behind the trigger of my personal budget shooter, a Savage .22LR BVTSS. It has seen a few different scopes, but currently has a Bushnell Trophy 4-12X40 AO in Burris Signature stainless rings. After MANY different brands, bullet weights, styles, and velocities it seems to have decided that Blazer 40gr round nose bulk box ammo should compete with target ammo for the accuracy award. Some pics... I normally shoot groups like this (or smaller) at 25m. This is the best yet at 50m. Now every time I go to the range, I get excited to shoot and see what sort of improvement I can make. To all those who say that shooting an ACCURATE rimfire is the best way to make your centerfire shooting improve sure was right!

Good info about the 50m standard. Yes, I tried the CCI SV stuff, and it was far more inconsistent. Until I get my hands on some match ammo, the Blazer stuff is for me! Incidentally I did try the Winchester Target 22 ammo, which is apparently what a lot of the local biathlon athletes use. It was horrible! Couldn't get a group that didn't look like a shotgun pattern. One thing I noticed about the blazer ammo, is that the coated bullets do get the chamber quite sticky. I need to clean it more often, or I get failure to extract.

I have the same rifle but put a Boyd's target rimfire under it and shoot the CCI standard with good results. Especially out to 100m where I do most of my shooting. I've started to use the Fiocchi ammo and found it to be a bit more accurate out to 100m so long as you weigh it. If you can find it as well.

Federal Gameshock #710 (copper plated 40gr. RN bullet) is by far the most consistent ammo I've used. Lapua Std. Club is right with the #710's though it is much more expensive. Federal #510 (lead version of #710) has good accuracy with the odd flyer. CCI Std. Velocity is good ammo as well but is harder to find for me. If I could find large amounts of it at a reasonable price, I'd buy several cases of it.
