The BVTS is noticable heavier when you have them side by side. I really like the way the spiral fluting looks and that stock on the BRJ is real nice. I did not get the model with the EVO stock, had a look at it and held it in the store. For me though, I thought the barrel looked too long for the short, futuristic stock that the EVO is. I like the traditional look of the stock I got with the nice laminate colors in there, beautiful gun.
As for the ammo, I've tried several different types with my .17 and although there are likely slight differences, I didn't notice much. Once that gun was sighted in, it's on target with any ammo. As far as I can remember the ammo costs are close to the same with the WMR being slightly cheaper, depending on what you buy of course. Some of the new WMR ammo with the poly tips and such is getting pricy now too so they are both comparitively the same, or close.
I love hunting gophers and shooting targets with my .17 as it is just so reliable. I am sure the WMR is going to be much the same and can't wait to field test it. The thing I like about the WMR a bit more is that it's a bit bigger projectile for yotes at the farm.
Calving season is under way and should get a good test on it soon. Going back to the farm my next days off to give dad a hand for a week so I'll get a good idea then. Where our farm is, the yotes don't see a lot of pressure so they think they can just waltz in and pick off calves at their leisure. I picked up a Savage .223 for Dad last year and he's loving that!! I am going to get in on that action with my WMR and see how they compare. My .223 is going to get a rest this trip!!
Just a little FYI, I did some pricing before I bought my BRJ. If you aren't fussy on having the fluted barrel, you really can get both guns for under $600. Then you can go to the Boyds Gunstock website and get your pick of the identical laminate stocks for under $100 each. They have an EVO stock on their site today for $72 on sale!! Really, you can dress them both up with a stock of your choice and save yourself about $400 in total cost if you had it in your budget to get both!! lol
