Are the savage shotguns only meant for slugs? Or can one use any type of shot in it?
I'm looking at the Stevens 320 and 350 pump models.
Would those be adequate for hunting with buck and bird shot?
Their prices seem very cheap - 250-350$

I have a Stevens 350 pump and I have shot everything but slugs out of it. Buckshot, birdshot, target loads for clays etc.. No worries with any of it. It's not the slickest action but it's great for the price point.

Are they appropriate for hunting delicious game ? Does their cheaper price point mean their accuracy isn't as good as 500-800$ shotguns ?

The Stevens 350 pump is just a front bead sight. I have shot birds with it and a few clays here and there but that's it , no medium/big game but I'm sure it's possible with slugs or buck shot.

Couldn't a person just ignore the near sight and only focus on the far sight when bird hunting ?

Good luck with that. And by the way, if you focus on the front bead when wingshooting, you are greatly increasing the odds of missing the target. You need to focus on the target, if the gun fits, the gun will be pointed where you are looking. I have had people come out to shoot skeet by trying to use the beads as sights, and they failed miserably.

So it's sorta a combination of instinct, experience and the sights eh

It has nothing to do with sights. I can take the bead off of my shotgun, and my skeet or sporting clays scores will not suffer one bit. Good shooters concentrate on the target, and ignore the beads.
