Savage/Stevens stock interchangeability?

I have a wooden stock from an older Savage 110, with a 4.5 inch hole spacing. Can anyone tell me if this will fit the Stevens 200? I assume that they are built on an older style 110 action?

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe the long action bolt spacing remains unchanged from previous years. Current Savage/Stevens LA bolt spacing is 5.062" center to center. If your older LA savage is truly 4.5 centre to centre then suggest you will need to fill the current hole (dowel/epoxy method) and redril to centre the front action screw.

PS, newer SA stocks have a 4.4 action bolt spacing, are you talking SA or LA here?

Thanks for the reply. The stock has a center-to-center hole spacing of 4.5 inches. I think that this stock originated on an 80's-vintage SA model called the Silhouette, but not sure.

Essentially, I am trying to use up some older Savage bits and pieces that I have lying around. In addition to the stock, I have a heavy-profile barrel (.308) and a newish aftermarket trigger. I was hoping to pick up a donor Stevens for the action and install these goodies on it, and wind up with a cheapo HB shooter.

I haven't followed their recent developments, but from what I understand Savage has made a few changes in action lengths, bolt releases, bridge profiles, etc. I was hoping that the Stevens line was simply a way for them to use up inventories of old-style receivers.

I'll have to find a Stevens somewhere that I can disassemble and try-fit before I make any plans.

Yup, the older models have changed spacing over the years. LA New Gen centre feed rifles appear to have no difference in the stevens or savage lines regarding bolt spacing specs. They differ in finish and trigger options as far as I can see. So you'll have to find an oldie action or be prepared to do some woodworking (not big issue if yer handy). If it were me, I would look into a Boyds stock for your build if it is in the budget. Good luck on your build.
