Savage stock

I'm looking for an aftermarket stock for my new Savage 12 .243.

Does anyone know of a good place to start looking? I tried Google but everything came up in the $300 range. Looking for something under 2 if possible. I would also prefer a thumbhole type stock.

richard microfit stocks are not bad you still have to do the finish on them but cheap price .

boyds Stock. Laminated. Starts around 89$ USD virtually finish. need some sanding etc.

i do like that black widow laminate what do they mean buy 99% or virtually finish any ways

Means you have to finish the sanding and the finishing. They sell a finishing kit with instruction.

Make sure you get the correct inlet. Is your new Savage a centerfeed? THe centerfeed actions have the front action screw moved forward.

The distance between holes is 4.40" for the centerfeed short, 4.275" short, 5.062" long action and 4.522 "J" series or original short.

so i just sand varnish polish the stock i don't have to finish any of the mounts or any thing? once i finish polishing sanding and all that i mount the action?

Wouldn't you have to bed the recoil lug and install pillars? I just ordered a Target Varminter from Boyds for my long action Savage. Anyone done a savage?

Brownell's has some new styled synthetic including a thumbhole for under the $200 range as well.

Look at a Cabella's catalogue as soon we will be able to order stuff like that from them as there will be a Canadian store in winnipeg. bye bye SIR. hope the customer service improves.
