Savage Straight pull rifle

interesting system with heym and now savage with the ball bearings and extension .
I have a few key chains that also employ a similar system to hold the halves together and push a pin to separate them

Ive had 2 of those push to release key retainers fail over time as they only used 1 small ball bearing to keep 'em locked in position. Pain in the butt when ye loose the mail key & gotta go to the hardware store to cut another one.

As fer the new Savage Impulse, I like the setup and feel it will make for some very functional builds for folks that just gotta have fun working with the platform. ;)
 
Savage's fit and finish seems a bit lacking in recent history... and their magazines have not always been my favourite but wow, they finally figured out to just use AICS on the predator instead of some goofy proprietary piece of crap. I hope more companies start doing this too.
The ambidextrous bolt I think is going to be a big deal for this rifle however. What a slick system to take a new person shooting, "oops left handed? Gimme just a minute, presto".
Not likely to buy one personally, but looking forward to seeing them and I bet they will be a hit!
