Savage to AICS Bottom Metal

Savage customer service is excellent.

Oh, and both 10 round magazines are indeed really only 9 round magazines in practice.

As for the CBSA refund, I guess I should have kept the paperwork. Oh well, I'll remember that for the "next" time. :slap:

I use to deliver Savage Rimfires to Westfield, still one of my all time favorite regular customers to deal with. It was a sweet gig, assuming the boss did his part for the return trip.

I suppose that's good to know, I must have had the thing for 6 months before I realized that it was only 9 rds.

The Feds will have a copy, probably pretty simple to get the details...assuming the paperwork is straightforward.

Interesting, appears to have the same action screw spacing as mine, in the ~4.4" ballpark. Was significant fitting required, or any modifications to the stock/receiver to make the DBM work?

Just for the heck of it, I emailed Savage and asked about the availability of OEM AICS bottom metal. Finally got a reply from someone in technical support, apparently all the OEM AICS bottom metal is earmarked for production rifles and will not be sold to the public.

Shame really. Although, I wonder if some gunsmith or importer would be able to order "replacement" DBMs from Savage...
