Just recieved the new Cabelas Canada wish book. They have the Savage TR heavy barrel fluted 21". Who has shot these and what are the reports. Thinking of getting rid of the 17hmr model 93 and want to replace it with a 22LR.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking at the vortex crossfire to put on it. Big bore shooting in my area is limited so I am looking at this for more shooting time.

Hi DinoS!

Hi own a savage TR 22 lr and sighted her at 50 yds with my 3x9x40 Burris Fullfield 2 ballistic plex.
I sighted her at 50 yds with Eley Sports ammo and I hit 10cts coins at 100yds with my gun, though I need to compensate by aiming with the 125 yds line on the scope...since I shoot sub sonic ammo.

Anyways, once your gun will be sighted properly with the type of ammo you use....you will enjoy your rifle as much as I do!

Hope this helps!
:)

had my TRR out for the second time yesterday, love it. with a good scope and good ammo, it's great! with average to crap ammo, it's still pretty good. haven't been able to kill a fly at 25yd yet (literally - they were landing on the paper and make great moving targets), but once the trigger smooths out and i get it zeroed properly, it should be doable.

I've had my newly purchased TRR out twice. With the typically (for me) craptastic Remington target ammo, it was grouping in the .75" range at 50 yards. This is with the 10x fixed Bushnell 3200.

I love it, so far.

The barrels on the TR are said to be made in the States, as opposed to Lakefield, ON, and there were a few QC issues with the early runs (including a few bad bores). That said, it looks like the guys sorted out their issues and have rifles that perform on par with Savage reputation.

Does anyone know of a retailer who has these in stock right now or can get them within a reasonable time frame? Cabela's is backordered :p
