We just finnished a new shooter day at the range. There were about 30 new shooters (new to shooting or new to this discipline). We used a number of ORA owneed rifles bought for this program plus a few memebr supplied rifles becasue there were so many shooters.
Some of the rifles were Savages with the new Accutrigger. One of the rifles had a number of misfires and another had one or two.
Today I emailed a factory contact to find out what was wrong.
He says the trigger finger has to be pushing back on the special lever until it is all the way back before teh finger pushes on the trigger itself. Otherewise things hang up and the rifle goes click instead of bang. He tells me the rifle litterature mentions this requirement.
The person having the most problems was a small size female teenager. Her finger would have been a bit short and reaching from the back and could very well have been touching the trigger as well as the lever.
I don't have one of these so can't experiemnt. If you have one, be aware of the importance of pushing straight back on the lever before touchng the trigger.
