Hi folks, I'm interested by a savage 17M2 but it doesn't have the accutrigger. What can I expect from the old trigger? Is it possible to change the trigger for an aftermarket or it is good as is?
Thanks

Yes Yes and Yes.

Stock trigger isn't that bad at all, just a little heavy, unless your a girly man and only drink light beer with a chaser then what can i say, plus it can be adjusted with a screw driver and 5 minutes of your time.

not sure about the adjustment capabilities but Rifle Basix has a nice trigger kit (model SAV-R) available for well under $100. I put a used one into one of my Savage .22's- a dreamy trigger. Takes about 10 minutes to install. It's better than any rimfire accutrigger I've pulled.

Nice to know!!! Thanks

Get the accutrigger, you wont reget it!

+1

I've never had a Savage without the AccuTrigger but the ones that I've owned so far (22LR, 17HMR, 22WMR) have all worked great. I never bothered to adjust any of them. I've found the factory trigger setting just fine and the rifles were accurate right out of the box.

I own 2 savage with accutrigger and I know they are really good. Was just wondering how good is it without it.
Also, it is because of the low price of 150$ without accutrigger.
In fact, what I want is the savage MK2 FV in .22lr but it's more than double the price of the 17hm2 whitout accutrigger!!
Can I retrofit with an accutrigger?

I had a Savage MK II heavy barrel with the old trigger and it is no longer mine, but I know who has it and it is a great shooting rifle. This trigger had some work done on it , it was a clean 3lb brake. FS

I don't think you can, at least not without some modifications. I don't think you can buy an accutrigger as a part either, unless you pull one from an existing rifle. Have a look at the Rifle Basix I mentioned earlier. It's even better than the rimfire accutrigger. I promise...and it takes about 10 minutes to install the part.

According to Savage, I believe it's either in an owners manual or some kind of info on the trigger, no retrofit available from the standard trigger. I read this a couple years ago, so things may have changed since.

For 150 dollars I'd most certainly go for it. I've shot non-accutrigger savages before, and I don't recall them being terrible or anything.

Usable for $150, when time/funds permit, the trigger can be modified/upgraded, if necessary.
