Savage Youth Rifles

Was looking at youth rifles this last weekend with my son, he really seemed to like the Savage youth rifle in 7mm-08.

It seemed to be frairly well made, seemed solid. Any one have one of these, how is it what are your impressions??Worth getting?

We also looked at the Remington 770 (didnt like it at all) and the Model 7 all in 7mm-08

I had one in 243, the package model, no accutrigger - got a good deal on it NIB.

Good little rifle , shot better than I could very dependable. Rode around in my old Suburban , under the front seat for a couple years - sold it to a guy on here for his uncle, he seemed very pleased.

Big thing is - the kid likes it , buy it no one will regret it

Have the same gun in .243. It came as a package deal with the scope. I bought it for the boys, but I love hunting with it too. As mentioned, tack driver.

The glass on mine is a Simmons Blazer 3-9. It's not that great, but good enough to get started with. I plan on putting some thing else on it this summer.
 
they no longer come with the simmons but instead a bushnell sharpshooter 3-9x40, the one on my 30-06 axis has stood up to 51 rounds so far but some people have them break.

Yes, a tack driver .... with accu trigger, synthetic stock ( camo )

I added a limbsaver recoil pad for my daughter to shoot
The scope ( Bushnell ) was good

Top tang safety and detach. mag

Kept it all simple ans easy to use

I also have had a Remington model 7 in the Rem 7- 08 mm

Lighter outfit to use that the Savage , internal mag , and shorter barrel 20'' made for more felt recoil and muzzle blast

I personally prefered the Savage overall

Now my daughter ( 16 yrs old ) uses a Remington 760 pump in 35 Rem cal.

My other daugther ( 18 and left handed ) uses Marlin stainless 1894 in 44 Rem Mag

It's what works best for them

I really like the ballistics of 7mm-08. I'm looking, but only a few available in left hand. I also like the 260, and there are even fewer of those kicking around in left hand.
