SUCCESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok, so before resorting to more drastic measures, just cleaned it HARD
hoppes solvent (copper solvent, then regular) on a brush, patches, wait, repeat until patches were clean, then let solvent sit for a couple hours, repeat. patches got dirty again after letting the solvent sit.
then SOAK in good ol weasel piss (wd-40) overnight, and repeat. Once again, patches were dirty even though they were coming out clean before. repeated 3 days in a row, went through a whole mini bottle of solvent, 3 brushes and around 100 patches.
finally patches were coming out clean no matter what i did, so i took it out to the farm, patched some rubbing alcohol through the bore to scoop out all the oil, fired it, cleaned it, wd 40'ed it, and 5 days later, she looks good as new (besides the pitting).
I've never seen a gun behave this way and i'm sure there would have been easier ways of tackling the persistent rust, you guys had great suggestions. in the end i was too lazy to track down cool chemicals and went old fashioned.
