Saw this on frontiers site

What did the guys who actually bought the few that were available think of these?

Planing a Kayak trip this year, and would like to pick one up. Anyone know just how many Frontier brought in?

Not sure why this is a "Black and green" gun but....

You know myself, I would not buy this single shot, uber short shotgun. BUT I see the value this could have to a tree-planter or prospector that has the need for protection in really thick forest. And this person may not have the time/inclination for an adequate pistol/ATC.
(with the nessessary range practice, so important for handguns)
A shotgun for anyone in the wilderness is a pretty good choice, I myself think. Be it a pump/self loader/double barrel or single shot.
At least it's a 12 gauge.........and if god forbid, you have to discourage Yogi Bear from eating you, it sure beats pepper spray.
Don't let me mislead anyone, this is IMHO, a last ditch protection firearm, for a single person alone, because that pistol grip is useless for any kind of distant shot, to protect anyone at any distance from you. This 5-yard gun is certainly better than no gun at all, for uno in the thick forest.

PS: Far more important questions we all should ask are: Is it reliable with your choice of adequate ammunition? Are you training with it?
Do you feel confident with it at close range? (Because chances are, you will only get off the one shot, if you are lucky enough to do so, at all)

my two bits

I dunno, Ive had my maverick 88 cruiser out several times and have no problem aiming it. Spread the recoil out over both arms and 2 3/4" 1oz. winchesters are just fun. Hold it out in front so your forward arm is barely unlocked, brace both and let er rip, no sore wrists and you can use yer bead sight quite well. Its light and easy to pack when I'm out hiking so I like it. Shooting from the hip or chest is probably where people deem a PG useless. Hold that position and see how much strength your forward arm has to absorb recoil. Not very much, huh? All the load is on your hand and wrist on the PG. Now hold your forward arm out infront. Pretty strong huh? Works great and I still got all my teeth! Honestly, it a neat little single shot that would serve its purpose. If youre not comfortable with a PG then go full stock, no problem, just dont hark on those who like it and want to give it a try. My pellet gun wouldnt mow a grizzly down but I still own one, does that make me an idiot?

Yeah pretty much, I want it to sit in the cockpit of my kayak, get wet, hang in my hammock, and not take up a lot of space.

If I was going during open season, I would take a small pack gun to grab a bird or two Was thinking of a SHTF(camp) gun.

But is it is the next to go on sh!t list forget it (re-classed to restricted)

IDK heard today that this thing is next on the RCMP hit list so....

Its not on a hit list. They're just confirming info on bbl length. Some of these were erroneously recorded as 470mm (18.5") bbl lenght, when in reality they are 457mm (18") barrels

So, they're doing some verifying. That is all.

The firearm, with the 457mm bbl, still meets the criteria of a non-restricted firearm. (Just barely)

From Tim at Simons, I was asking him about his t97 and mentioned these shotguns. He told me about it, it does make sense.

Huh? What exactly makes sense?

Anyhow... regardless of what "Tim" says... its non-restricted as per the CCC with the 457mm bbl... so short of an OIC, it will not go prohib. (unless they can somehow make a single shot shotgun go F/A.)

Its not even in the same league as the T97.

Nor did I say it was Prohib. At least read my post before you try and correct me.

I stated what I was told (as was the argument in the beginning of the thread) it was to be re-classed as restricted.

Don't like it? Me ether. Don't believe it? Don't care.

Sorry, nothing personal. I can't see a classification change for this firearm happenning. There's nothing in the CCC they can use. We'll have to wait and see.
