Saxton 10ga duck gun

Scored a nice clean Saxton 10ga single, with a 42” laminate barrel. 3.5” chamber and opens with a side swing lever that fits around the trigger guard. I plan to use this with bismuth at some point for duck hunting. Does anyone have any load suggestions? Both lead and bismuth to try.
 
I’d load it with BP. Good starting point would be Goex load data 123gr of ffg and 1 3/4 oz of shot.

I don’t think it would have had 3.5 inch chambers originally maybe 3 inch.
 
Have some hulls and wads on the way. Going to work on some loads for it in the next few weeks. I’m thinking something with some heft will work for starters. Like 100gr ffg to an equal measure of shot. And work up from there.
 
I suspect the 10ga shells for which it was chambered would be 2 7/8".
When I got my 10ga double, I made a wad cutter, and obtained a 10ga roll crimper used in my drill press. Cut wads from cardboard and cork. The shells in the photo are light loads - 1 1/4oz of #8s. Equal volume of Fg. Wad column adjusted to allow for top wad and crimp.

Personally I think if it were min I’d use 2 7/8 hulls and or out a load.

Personally I’d get brass hulls but for 10ga those are expensive plastic works just as well.
 
Have 50 plastic hulls on the way. My plan is to trim them to either 2 7/8” or 3” and load them like I load my 24ga brass. Powder, nitro card, fibre wad, shot, over shot card and white carpenters glue. No crimp.

That’s should do the trick I’d split the fibre wad in half so it comes apart after it exits the muzzle. What do you have for a 24ga i have been looking for one for a while.
 
It’s a dainty little 24ga Neumann Bros Belgian sxs. An old friend of mine gave it to me along with 8 other antique guns. Picked up two boxes of magtech 24ga brass and it’s my go to upland gun now.

I figure bore diameter to shot column hight it’s a perfect bird and small game cartridge.
