The pic is of my old hunting partner Harveys non typical whitetail shot in the Glenavon area in Sask in 1964 or 65. Now before someone jumps all over me saying that mount don't look that old, your right. It was not mounted until the 80's by Brent Sparks I think in southern Alberta with another cape.

Any ways Harvey was hunting with 3 other guys that worked with him at the Regina co-op. They were pushing a bush pasture about 1/2 mile long. Ernie was posted at the end in a rock pile in case something got pushed out the back door. The other 3 were alternating going into small bushes while the other 2 were waiting for a deer to bust out the side. They worked their way to the end and Harvey was going to walk into the last bush when he thought he heard something. He looked for the other guys but they were allready heading for the car. Harvey backed up and hucked a small log into the bush and this bruiser came busting out the side door. Harv smacked him with his 30-06 rem 740 at about 100 yds. They figured later the only thing that stopped him from going out the back door was he had winded Ernie sitting in the rock pile. He has 13 points. !9 if you count all the spikes off his brow tines. Harvey thought he scored around 196 and change.---Cowboy

Now that right there is a beauty of an Alberta whitetail. Wow. The brows alone make that a lifetime trophy, never mind the double drops and the nice dark colour.

Beauty. The cape looks like a much younger deer, but a great mount either way!

Incredible!!!!! i could shoot that and retire my hunting career. who am I kidding, id keep trying to beat it;):D
 
Has to be western deer. Since liberals banned antlers on Ont WTs as being too threatening and dangerous (and to prevent bullying of younger bucks), all of our WTs look like does. Further, if they spend time on roads, they have to wear safety vests and at night, little red blinking taillights. There is also a zero tolerance policy for tail flagging when near trails in conservation areas and provincial park campgrounds.

Thanks Donny for correcting silverado. Back in them days alot of nice bucks came from that area of Saskatchewan. The cape took 2 yrs to find and I believe it came from the Cranbrooke area of BC. Harvey was down visiting yesterday just to make sure I had it hanging right. While he stood staring at bushy he told the story again. The only thing I could add is he said" I knew dam well if I took one step into that bush he would bust out the side and I'd be SOL".------Cowboy
