Hi guys.
Anyone used S&B sp primers that occasionally do not ignite?
Having a few misfires that so far go bang second time fired. Primers are hit well. Guns used are both semi autos.
Thanks
They work fine in my 9mm CZ clone, and I have put a bit lighter hammer spring in it; no issue in my GP100. If primer is not completely seated in the 9mm, the first hammer strike my push the primer in without firing; recock and it goes bang. If not fully seated in the GP, the tolerances are tight and the cylinder may not turn.
I would say that in the vast majority of cases where primers don't go off on the first strike but do on the second is because they are not fully seated. Some of the inertia of the first strike is absorbed by the primer being pushed further into the primer pocket. Once fully seated by the first strike the second strike will ignite it. Tight primer pockets or harder/larger than 'normal' primers will exacerbate the situation as will firearms with lightened hammer/striker springs.
Making sure your primers are fully seated will take away 99.9% of these occurrences. Occasionally you will get a bad batch of primers but that is extremely rare.
