SBI Lynx 180B Lower Info and Feedback, for WK, MCR, and AR180B

SBI posted the following information to its own thread regarding the Magpul Zhukov stock adapter for the Lynx. -> https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/2178745-Lynx-180B-with-Magul-Zhukov-AK-Folding-Stock?p=18195072#post18195072

Note: One thing not stated in the text, but nicely shown is the video is the stock when installed on their Zhukov accepting rear lower receiver section will allow the rifle to fire folded :)

Lynx 180B - Magul Zhukov Yugo AK Folding Stock Mount

Lynx 180B Update: We prototyped and tested our Zhukov Yugo AK stock mount and it works great. Our Lynx 180B is the only 180 receiver on the market that can natively accept a Yugo AK stock without the use of a clunky adapter. Here's some pics of it:

Nice to see they maintained the same comb height as the OEM arrangement. The other Zhukov adapter on the market puts the stock a fair bit lower which offers nothing but disadvantages imo. If only that magwell was sorted out as well. That would make the whole thing a perfect execution. I had the opportunity to so some mag change drills on an MCR recently and the magwell arrangement is without question slower than a standard AR type magwell. The beautiful flairing they did with it can only do so much to mitigate that stupid backwards angle.

IMO, the Magpul Zhukov stock is the best folding stock option for the money for the 180. The stocks are $130, they fold, they extend LOP, and they have cheek risers you can buy, 1 built in push button QD cup recess and 2 more optional at the rear AND a sling attach point, they look good on the 180, and they're not godawful expensive like the ACR stock.

Most of the 1913 stocks are made for the US market, so they're mostly pistol braces and not full stocks. They're super lightweight, but the cheek rest on most of them sucks.

I sent SBI a PM for a Canadian made Picatinny skeleton aluminum stock with a plastic cheek rest. Hopefully they can either bring in that stock (though it was expensive) or include as similar cheek rest piece on their own in development Picatinny stock

Has there been any indication as to whether or not they'll include a hole for the rear pin on the WS-MCR?

No, there has been no indication. Looking at the the Zhukov adapter, it looks like the default is no pin. However, the pin would plug into the rear swappable stock area, so it should in theory be possible to drill out a hole prior to applying the finishing for the lower stock portion. Hopefully SBI will stock a certain percentage drilled out for MCR users, or else make that part on demand on a per receiver order basis either with or without the hole. Would it be possible to apply finishing in just the hole portion if it is drilled out after? Or does the MCR rear pin hole even have finishing material inside? Conversely, would the hole compromise the function of the lower or even be visible if it was present on a lower installed on a WK?

So this question has come up a bunch of times so I figured I'll address it here as well as on our dealer forum.

There will be no hole for MCR upper 2nd take down pins and here's why:

1) It's not needed at all with our lower. We tightened up tolerances to eliminate wobble. This makes the 2nd pin a useless part. Don't worry, it's super easy to remove the pin.

2) With the Lynx 180B there's no stock adapters for different style stocks like there is on the WK180C, Nodak Spud, and WS-MCR. Instead the entire rear of the receiver can be swapped out. This allows us to have a shorter and lighter receiver compared to any others. This also means the MCR rear take down pin doesn't align with anything well and would require us to add extra material for it to work.

3) If we were to support the MCR's pin we would need to move the entire stock down which would ruin the cheek weld. This is because on the AR carbine stock the pin would hit the buffer tube threads, on the 1913 stock the pin would hit the rail, and with the Zhukov stock the pin would hit the stock shank pocket.

4) It's easier to field strip without the pin.

5) Our upper receiver will not have one.

Not true,

Check out TNA’s website, you can buy everything you’ll need there. It uses standard AR mag release, you can buy the upgraded bolt catch for $50, and you’ll need one of their safeties. Takes AR triggers, grips and stocks. I’m pretty sure that other guy is just a complete hater of the 180 platform based on comments from other threads.

DM me is you have any questions about building or buying parts for your new lower.
Thanks! I'll see what I can come up with. I may have a few questions.

Why not an AR style magwell? Is it so that it doesn't asthetically look similar to the AR?

Has to do with lineage, and a bit to do with manufacturing. The original reason has to do with simplifying manufacturing of stamped receivers. It is also a bit easier to machine with a milled receiver like ours. It's also lighter, which for the Lynx 180B is a key thing.

With a proper flare there's nothing wrong with AR180B style mag well. Having run both AR-15's and AR-180B's in matches I personally find no difference between them as long as there's a good flare on the mag well.

Are these compatible with the new TNA improved upper for WK180-Cs

Since the Lynx is able to work with the standard WK upper, and the TNA upper is an improved version of that upper, the two should be quite compatible. Remember, though, that a Lynx upper will eventually be coming. The TNA upper should work, should you be unable to wait for the Lynx.

Are they going to release the upper any time soon, and are they going to do a complete rifle or even a barreled upper or do I have to buy a stock WK and upgrade it with the lynx receivers
