"Scale" target question!

I keep seeing these little anthropomorphic silhouettes. They're like little 8" tall mini torso's!

Is there some sort of reason for these targets? Like, if you put these targets up at 25yrds, does it simulate engaging a properly (standard) sized target at 100yards? Lately I'm seeing tiny coyote targets at my gunstore too. Like, it's an image of a fully grown coyote, but it's like 10 inches snout to tail. Is there a purpose I'm missing here? I'm assuming you can "Scale" distances to simulate long range shots or something?

I know I've done a poor job of writing this post, I hope you guys can follow what I'm getting at....

Yeah...

Also, just thinking of how MOA scales...

1 MOA is 1" @100yds
1 MOA is 2" @200yds
ect....

So, if you score 1/2" on a 1/2 scale target at 50yds (1 MOA),
is that the exact same thing as 1" on a 1:1 scale target at 100 yards?
So if you have one of those 1/2 scale coyote targets, you can scale up and down like that?

I know that question sounds stupid, and my first instinct would be to say "yes", but....
Anyone???

It simulates aiming error, but obviously not gravity and flight time related things like drop, windage and ammo dispersion.
If you halve the range you halve the height of the target, simple stuff.

It is fun for indoor 22LR ranges.

Did you know that you can turn your scope 180° in its mount to simulate shooting at longer distances? The magnification is then essentially the multiplier for the distance, i.e. 100 yds & 6x = 600 yds. The eye relief is a little messed up, but it works.

BWAAA HAA HAA AHA AHA HAA!R:d:

I wonder if reverse scope-bite would become an issue ... could suck your eyeball out!

Personally I've always found that "aim small, shoot small" works very well. You focus more and thus you are more precise.

There is a little known alien conspiracy where we are going to be invaded in 2015 by miniature aliens dressed like dogs. The powers that be what us to be prepared to defend ourselves without panicking the general populous with an advanced announcement.

Or they are to roughly simulate shooting regular sized coyotes at long distance when on short distance practice ranges.

So you can shoot them with this...
