What is good these days in a digital scale I have to get a new one I just fell off a ladder with my old rcbs jobby & when I plug it in it says FAIL
so boys what have you been using??

I have a PACT electronic scale that I bought new from PACT in Texas years ago. Sent it back once when it was misbehaving. Works fine now. The very nice people at DILLON precision have their BBC scale that is okay too. Electronic is the way to go. Way more precise. The balance beam units only have a sticker applied to the beam arm. I once dropped a unit measure on my electronic scale and then measured it on a balance beam. The balance beam was out 1/10 of a grain....
 
rcbs 750 rangemasters can be had for 99.00 in the states.... I think they are a couple hundred up here. I had one as a back-up to my chargemaster.

Maybe I'm not very experienced, but I haven't seen a balance beam with a sticker applied to the beam arm. :eek: You sure there's such a beast? :p

My understanding of balance beams is that they never ever get out of adjustment, if you don't damage them. Sure they're a little slow, but once you set your weight, the repeatability is excellent. You just need good eyes to see the beam pointer. Some people use a webcam connected to a computer for that. Me, I just get my little girls to tell daddy when the lines line up. Great way to get the kids involved. :D

Having said that, my buddy has one of those RCBS jobbies that you set and forget, then press a button and the perfect amount of powder is measure out for you. Convenient, but kinda boring if you ask me.
 
i use a terminator dillon scale....for the price, this thing is a chinese piece of crap. the scale has to much sensitivity to air draft, cells, neons, always floating between +- .01 unless you close windows,cells, neons ....but still good +or- .01, enough for me.

my trick is that i zero the scale for each charge measurement.
