Scar 16s & 17s

A few years ago the Canadian FN distributer told me that they had zero interest in the commercial market/ their LE customers did not want civilian sales and were leaning on them.
I told him he was a female dog and have zero reason to believe that the classification is correctly researched.

Didn't that importer go belly up? - Who replaced them??

Not to be a naysayer or ass about this, when the SCAR 16 was submitted to the wonder palace!! It was a factory semi-auto carbine & the statement that it wasn't the right one seems false & misleading. The movie house did submit a full auto for the wonder place to compare, after that they made the decision that it was easily converted. Having attended the last several Shot Shows - I or others had never been privy to specific export or CDN version. Factually several distributors & dealers approached FNH Belguim for CDN & they had no interest!!!!

Just ask the CPC government to put SCAR16 and 17 on the "non restricted list" once C-42 is passed, along with Swiss arms and C858.

Yeah I thought the reasoning was that you could swap out the trigger group from the auto to the semi. However you cant just go out and by the auto trigger group.

Anyway if they are prohibiting things because "you could do this or that with it" we are a long way from where we should be... Yay Canada.

From my understanding that is the reasoning the RCMP used to prohib the Scar as easily convertible. However, when I spoke with a tech from FN at shotshow 2 years ago he said the trigger packs from an F/A will not simply slide into an S/A only gun and he has no idea how the RCMP could have came to that ruling.

We are waiting until we see what happens after C-42 before we send anymore sample guns to the black hole they call the RCMP firearms lab..

Not holding you to anything, but would you consider down the road, giving it another try for the SCAR?

Brownells now has the replacement SBR barrels which for me is a "game changer" :)

Yeah we are considering it. Pending C-42 implimentation and the fall election..

In the near future anyways, it is pointless to debate, as FN-USA is not building SCARs for the civilian market.
They are focusing on building the military version first.
They hope to catch up, and get back to making the civvy version eventually...
