Scar L And Scar h

That's stupid, following that logic the AR-15 should be prohib too as they can accept a DIAS or lightning link. but then again most of the gun laws in Canada make very little sense.

Not as a drop in part. Machining required. The scar accepts go fast parts as drop in. While the part isn't easy to get, if you had the part, the gun is easy to convert.

what I understand from when I lived in the states where such things are obtainable is that they fit into bushmaster, cmmg, dpms and a few other lowers with no milling necessary. So the point still remains....

I thought it was Itar that banned the export of them. Due to the request of the rcmp or something like that.

Because they are different countries with different procedures for approving firearms.

But they have the same law in regards to full auto conversion... Please cut the passive agressive crap.

I go to the u.s all the time as i can look out my window and see a major u.s city.
In regards to that, i know the u.s laws very good.

Anything easily converted to full auto in the u.s is banned. Hence why the mac10 had to be re-designed, later on, the same deal with the tec9 the gangs were converting these to f.a just as they did to the mac 10, then the tec9 was required to make a new design.

Also the civillian Tavor (SAR model they call it, semi automatic rifle) was designed for the u.s market and made so it cannot be converted to full auto. Reference the militiary and l.e tavor version that has full auto, and is also 0.3 inchs longer in length to house the f.a triggergroup

From what I heard, it got prohibited because the version submitted for approval was a full auto receiver with semi-auto parts dropped in.

Why are these not un-restricted (in the 18.5 length) ?

Is their a way to even get these in canada?

A scar l unrestricted would be a nice ar-15 alternative.

The SCAR is currently prohibited due to being easily converted to fire full auto. The full-auto components are drop-in and require no work beyond obtaining/manufacturing them. A new lower that will not accept these components would be restricted or non-restricted depending on barrel length. Unfortunately since the ruling, there has been no redesign for our market.

Potentially you are correct. If the AR was not a named restricted, there is the outside chance the RCMP would call them prohibs on the basis of ease of full auto conversion and availability of US-made/sourced kits to accomplish this. The AR being a named restricted firearm saves it from this potential fate.

Uhh, passive agressive? You asked a question, I gave you a straight-forward answer. Check you attitude at the door please.

Oh my these discussion just keep on rearing their ugly heads.

It matters not "why". It only matters that "they are".

It does not matter what the Americans, the Belgians, or any other country does with their firearms laws, it only matters what the RCMP do with ours.

The SCAR series is prohibited in Canada.

And unless the Belgians redesign for our small market and if the Americans allow the firearms to come into our country (remember Belgium ships the rifles direct to FNH USA and the American government basically banned all export to Canada once the first and only 50 rifles crossed our border) then maybe it would happen. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe.

But I figure it won't. And all the arguing about it is just a complete and utter waste of life.

I'm sure in 2 months another thread on the SCAR will pop up once again. Please use the search function.
