SCAR vs ACR a comparison

hasnt there been some issues with the acr? the got recalled didint they?

Yes. The Bushmaster ACR was recalled because a few could go full-auto or burst under some circumstances. This is no longer an issue with the new ones being imported, but may have something to do with the FRT review. I believe this was similar to the slamfire issues with the Tavor.

TAKING DEPOSITS NOW

We have just been informed that the BACR is in Canada and is going through the process of finalizing the FRT and registration process, and the this should be completed in the next couple weeks.

Secondly we have made a price reduction due to currency, the price is now $3125 anyone that has already given us a deposit will receive the new price.

Lastly our allotment of the first shipment has been increased a few guns, so I am happy to say if you wish to be one of the first to have these, we have a couple available for reservation.
BACR BASIC FEATURES

Just wish that they weren't restricted by barrel length.

I was really interested in an ACR at one point. But not at this price, not with what I've heard about quality and not as a restricted.

It's comparable in price to other next-generation 5.56mm rifles, all of which are restricted with the exception of the Tavor.

FN FS2000 ... $2,899
Bushmaster ACR ... $3,125
IWI Tavor ... $3,299
SA Carbine ... $3,399
FNH SCAR 16-S ... $3,599
HK MR223 ... $3,800-$4,445

Part of my point. Restricted. It's what I paid for my Classic green, non-restricted and proven quality. I would still be interested in the ACR if it can be demonstrated that the quality had come up to the level of some of the ones you've mentioned here and in a non-restricted format if available. If I were to get a restricted now I would go for an SR-15 asssuming they actually make it in country and for the previously stated price of around 2500.00. More quality for the price.

Does anyone know if an 18.5 plus inch barrel ACR would be non-restricted?

Each of these guns has their own idiosyncrasies, the SA being no exception with a heavier weight and proprietary magazine. The MR223 has the offset pins, the FS2000 is more maintenance and picky about magazines, the SCAR is unobtanium, the Tavor had the same slamfire issue as the ACR, etc.

There's certainly no question about the quality of the SA. On the other hand, $3,400 doesn't even get you so much as a single mounting rail, either. By the time you add two B&T low profile and quad rails (to match the real estate on the SCAR or ACR), you're going to be pushing upwards of $4,400. Same with the Tavor or FS2000.
