SCAR vs ACR Part III

Why would you say the controls are backwards?

I think it's because most North Americans seem to be taught to always have the trigger hand on the grip. So they would have to tilt the rifle and reach over with the left hand to work the bolt. But I have seen Russian military people work it and the ones I saw kept the support hand on the foregrip and did everything with the trigger hand. So for that technique it works very well and some of them were scary fast!

I was taught to run the AK and do all the drills using my left hand while mantaining firm control of the rifle while holding on to the pistol grip with my right hand and yes it is just as fast as maintaining a grip on the forearm

I think either way would work as long as you are well practiced at it. Barring some sort of physical problem.

Having a hand on the pistol grip with no rounds in the wpn is pointless anyway. I know what we were all taught but speaking as a lefty it had no appeal for me. Millions of AK users around the world can't be wrong. It comes down to what one is comfortable with and how effective one is using a particular drill. I always used y left or pistol-grip hand to change mags and now use my right non-pistol grip hand to #### the VZ. Strange.

Check out the DVD's from Suarez International if you want to learn how to properly handle an AK. This is a great DVD (I own it) to get started, they also have an advanced DVD.

The controls of the AK are logically placed and work well for a combat rifle. They're big, simple and easy to use. I think the biggest problem people have with the AK is that they try to run them like an AR. They're totally different, and once you accept that and learn how to use it, it all comes together and works quite well.

My point exactly it is very easy to use and the grip angle is no problem to accept much like shooting a M1 Carbine , Swed K or a Beretta SMG we adapt to the firearm we have at hand its no big deal
