SCAR Where Art Thou ?

Barrel length is 16.25" I believe. This is a commercial version (manufactured specifically in semi-automatic), so no different than any other black rifle. It could be a very Merry Christmas indeed! :)

Ok. For some reason I was thinking they were coming in with longer barrels to make them non restricted, but I just read one of Questar's posts in the dealer forums and they said they would be restricted. Brain fart on my behalf, I guess.:D

that sucks. hopefully there will be a non-res manufacture.

isnt there some different law pertaining to barrel length with .22's? kuz im pretty sure there are non res rugers with shorter than 18.5

Awaiting a SCAR!!!

I am very happy to have kept my pre-order, and wish as well the RCMP would just hurry up and issue the FRT already. As for the .22 version, if they are non-restricted I may look at one of them as well so I can shoot even more!!

The barrel is easy once you have the gasblock/extension of course. The trick, for Canada, would be to find someone who can make quality extensions.

I'm going to see what Questar might be able to procure first. Who knows... By the time the FRT is issued non-restricted barrels might already be a reality.

I would be curious what others who've pre-ordered a SCAR are planning for accessories, optics, etc. Myself, I'm thinking about an LT-Fug for a vertical grip, a new safety selector, a different pistol grip (maybe a MIAD) and index clips on the rails. For optics, possibly an ACOG or NXS. Anyone else?

I love that Scar, FN makes fantastic firearms!! I wish I had saved my dollars to put my name on the list. If they make the non-restricted barrel for it I would try my best to get one. If not, FN FS2000 is another fine rifle.

I am going to try out my SCAR naked to start. Might throw some nice glass on it (nightforce 2.5-10x24) to see what I can achieve for accuracy. If I am impressed I will rethink running it naked.

I'm going to run mine 'naked', assuming it's ever released, until I get a sense of how it works....
I am coming full circle in how my carbines are 'dressed'...
I first get a sense of how it shoots with the irons, and then work up...Micro...+ magnifier, maybe a Spectre, perhaps a 1-4X NSX...maybe even a Short Dot....
Then, almost invariably, I take off all of the relatively heavy, higher magnification stuff that actually makes CQB shooting slower, and leave it at a T-1.
I'm thinking that the only option that I would likely add would be the Troy 'kit' to upgrade the rails, etc.......

The steel charging handle and T-6 stock button might be nice (Battlesights are probably non-export) Not sure if the side rails need to be upgraded to the T-6 ones. Everything else (modular grip, sling) is standard fare.

I pre-ordered one, and will continue to pre-order any cool new guns coming in. Hopefully ACR's will show up soon; and one of those SCAR-like .22's will be on the list for sure.

I already have the ACOG that will be mounted on mine.
