SCAR Where Art Thou ?

What's the worst case scenario the RCMP can rule? Seeing as how they were 100% against us gun owners here a few months back I can see these guys making a bogus ruling.

The key is to "work with" people, instead of "working against" people. That will be up to the skill of the importer for the 2000 dollars premium on these rifles.

That pic is awesome. Remind me again why we can't get these in from Belgium?:D

Because the US State Department controls these weapons regardless of where they are made or in what format. Long story but even the Belgians cannot get them in their country.

I spoke with a dealer the US and frankly I am surprised we ever got any. Not only that but trying to get extra barrels like the short one is going to be a ##### if possible at all.

Nice rifle. But I think that 29 will be all that we see for some time.

Really. Were they really "against us" or were they simply protecting turf or maybe they actually believe that the registry helps them?

I believe that they will be very thorough in their examination and that they will rule appropriately. We do have the SIG rifles and many other rifles that came here without "bogus" ruling. Have a little more faith.

The only thing that it needs is a real FN CHF 10.3" barrel.

Fully agree. I'd rather have this barrel than a NR barrel (although I wouldn't turn one of those down either).

I'll try out the irons first, then mount the Elcan Spectre OS4 (mine should arrive this month) just to stay somewhat patriotic.

The more we talk about this rifle the more it's grown on me. Too bad I dismissed the pre-order opportunity so quick. I wish I would have gave it more thought.

I'd be nice to get one with both a shorty barrel and a NR barrel. Hunting in the bush with the SCAR would be BA. I was leaning towards an XCR lately just to go have some fun in the bush, but after reading a bunch on the SCAR I think I'll wait.

Hopefully one day some more will get into the country or some will pop up on the EE for 1/3 more of the original price. Everyone always said never say never, but most of you sure seem confident that we will never see these exported here ever again....

Maybe I'll ask this in a different way? What are the different ways the RCMP can rule on this? Or is everyone to scared to answer me or what??? Would it be classed restricted?

Restricted in current barrel length (16.25") due to barrel length. Non-restricted if they are registered with a barrel length over 18.5" (not sure if there is a sample of this rifle, but these were NOT imported by Questar to my knowledge). Prohibited if it is ruled that they are somehow select fire rifles (which would be difficult since FN has a good reputation of doing their homework and making it "impossible" to make their rifles "fun").

IIRC, it would be classed as a restricted firearm due to barrel length. With a longer barrel - I think 18.5", the Scar would be elligible for non-restricted status. FN has other sporting models, so I don't think a prohibited status would be in the cards.

I want one hoepfully a few guys back out on the pre-sale.

Anyone that was in on the pre-order received an email to make final payment ahead of receiving their rifles - If you don't see one available on Questar's website, they are all spoken and paid for.

As near as I can see it, you have the following options:

A) Put out a WTB ad in the EE stating you'll bend over for anyone that got one to take advantage of you and your wallet - expect to pay +$4000.

B) Wait out on the next availability of someone like Questar to bring in another batch.

C) Purchase one from an FFL dealer in the States and try to import it yourself.

Haha, just came here to see what the status on these was... This answers that!

It's to bad there's only a VERY small chance that Canada will ever see a SCAR 17 LB for wide commercial sale. I'd jump on one as I could not only use it as an awesome range gun, but as a fantastic hunting rifle. The semi-auto only models of course.

Were the ones brought in by Questar 5.56 or 7.62 models?

Non of you will get the scar. Get over it you gun maniacs (hmm new website).

The sponsors will let everyone know when they can get their deposits back. There's always the bushmaster acr which might make it here.
