For once I don't think the RCMP is to blame for the holdups. I'm not going to repeat what I've read offsite about the Canada bound SCARs because it's hearsay at this point, but it sounded like it's being held up on the US side.

In other words..... Our lab can't figure out how the hell to convert this thing to F/A to save their lives so we'll buy the real F/A to see how it's done.:D

They've been here for almost a year and a half.

BS. The RCMP is holding classification on these rifles solely based on the fact that "FN" has not answered the question as to the compatibility of full auto part in the semi-auto gun. I currently hold the FOI package. An FN representative answered that question over a year ago. When I confronted Murray Smith on that issue, he then claimed that they wanted that answer from their engineering department. That's a stall tactic. When a company rep for a company like FN makes a statement, in writing, to a federal agency, they are representing the entire company, including the engineering department.

What? You know they've been up here for a while now right?

Has anyone else canceled, I am seriously considering it now. What do you have to do to cancel your order and get your money back?

Yes. After almost two years I finally gave up; just contact Questar. Depending on the rumours, it's either going to be approved any day now or prohibited. Unfortunately the novelty just wore off for me during the extended wait...

I just canceled my order as well. It hurt to do it but I have other pressing things I need to do with that money at the moment. :(

I wouldn't sweat it. I don't think the SCAR is the greatest thing going anyhow. Certainly not at the prices up here in Canada.

After talking with a member of a unit that trialled them, some of the issues:

- Stocks collapsing on their own while the shooter is firing (More the SCAR-H)
- Stock Pin sheering off (SCAR-H)
- Stocks breaking, specifically the latch
- Reciprocating charging handle causing malfunctions due to interference with slings, gear and cover
- Light profile barrel not standing up to heavy sustained fire
- Front integrated rail system too short for proper grip with accessories mounted

I have also heard stories of canted gas blocks, unfinished chambers and generally overall poor QC on FN's part.

Spend you money elsewhere. I sure wouldn't want to be that guy stuck with a lemon! ;)

To call a SCAR a lemon, because is has some issues is not really fair. I can make the same problem list for just about every firearm that I have owned, including AR15's, XCRs, Swiss Arms, etc. I'm sure the SCAR is not the best there is, but what gun is?

well now that the lgr is ''dead'' the rcmp will open back up the frt book and start re-classifing all the cool non restrited rifles like the tavor, xcr,jr carbine and a whole bunch or other rifles we have enjoyed as a non restrited and they will now be restrited and prohib's  :kickInTheNuts: :bangHead:

I think we share that thought but I doubt it will happen anytime soon as they would need a specific valid reason, they already passed all the the RCMP lab tests and were given a classification as Non Restricted.

It would be too obvious in one shot to come out and re-classify all the above you mentioned but I could see overtime when the next anti-firearms party get back in...There will be serious on the pay back/revenge factor for LGR being scrapped. If you look at how much angst and hatred many Left Liberal/NDP supporters are posting on Facebook and the Net you can just imagine what we will have to deal with in terms of gun law legislation...
