Historial wait for SCAR.

Looked a bit through some of the pages to find an answer, but no luck. Is the only problem with the SCAR the fact that the DoD won't allow the export of it? Has it been classified as restricted/NR yet?

Partially. Since SOCOM funded the development of the SCAR, I think FN's hands are somewhat tied with respect to any information requests for classification.

This is the problem.

Yes, and they can't finish classifying it without certain proprietary information from the manufacturer (at least that was the last I'd heard) - which FN is unable to release due to the DoD (SOCOM, etc.) It's a vicious circle...

Hmm... The reason I'm asking is because the guy running irunguns.ca (thread here) told me he checked with the CFO and it is classified as restricted. He also said that there would be no problem having one imported. Not really sure what to make of that. Could it be true? *crosses fingers*

Having had the opportunity to use the Scar during a few FNH sponsored 3-Gun matches/stages...

Y'all ain't missing out much...

'Sure it's a nice enough rifle, but... Doesn't do anything any better than the b'gillions of AR's already out there.

I notice other than ONE guy I met at FNH3G the ONLY people runnin' SCAR's are the FNH team.
They give 'em away as prizes, but I've heard a few winners mutter something like "Great, I can sell it and get another AR"

Sorry, but I call BS - CFO's don't determine classification. The only FRT entry in the entire database for "SCAR" returns prohibited. If this had been classified as restricted or especially non-restricted, fairly certain we'd have heard something...

I went back and read the email. He said he checked online and it was restricted. He is also willing to give the CFP a call (missed this before; too many beers?) to verify. Just got back to him asking him to do so.

Now I know this is BS. I'm sure the CFP can help him out, though. Except, wait - they have access to the same information I have... which tells them absolutely nothing. Do any of these scenarios seem more or less likely with the consumption of additional beer? ;)

I think the first person to legally own a Scar in this country should have their CGN post count bumped for every comment on this undying thread.

A fitting reward for the poor souls trapped in that cesspool of a wait list.
