Scary moment at the Nanaimo F&G club

Sureeee you can i just tried. The press felt weird, i would like to think anyone would notice something is up.
It is possible to do but impossible not to notice that you've done it. Either the shell doesn't crimp properly or the primer backs out. It's the ones without powder that are harder to notice until you get that little pop when you expected a bang.

Just ban trap and skeet. Hell, why dont we ban shotguns while we are at it.

Maybe we should ask for the registry back. It would have stopped this.

My using factory loads statement was a rhetorical question only.

I would not rule out loader error. In the mid 70s the Calgary Gun Club had three blow up incidents within a two week period. Two on the trap field and one on the skeet field. I was there for all three and was on the same squad when one went. All three incidents were with reloads from PW multi stage loaders. I do not recall the official verdict but a smith working at the store where all three loaders were sold said a plastic wad seated sideways or twisted was the most probable cause and that several loaded rounds were found this way.

Because of these incidents I have never graduated to being able to use a multi stage tool with confidence. I use a PW 375. I want to see every step of the process.

I use 2 MEC 600 JRs, one for 2 1/2" 12 ga shells and the other for 28 ga shells due to the high cost of factory shells in that gauge.
I use Green Dot which is fairly bulky, and If I load a double charge of that, you can't get the shot in. Anyway the wad is sitting high in the case
Slow but sure.
