I have a gunsmith saying that he refuses to install these on anything less than an 18.5" because the front will be blown off.

I have another gunsmith that says its no problem.

Is there an issue here?

Also, please post pics if you have this setup, and if you've experienced any issues with it.

Thanks in advance

It's not a problem if they are silver soldered on. The recoil impulse MIGHT knock it off if you use the 'glue' that comes with some of the sight kits. But it's not because of 'blast' or anything related to short barrel, other than potential increase recoil due to lower weight.

The 12.5 inch grizzly has sights silver soldered on from the factory. I assure you they don't "blow off". Silver solder is as strong as the steel it is attached to.

I've heard of these epoxied on sights coming off on numerous occasions, no matter what the barrel length. You could always try it, and if it comes off then you know. It may stay on for years. Personally I would spend the extra and have them silver soldered on, but that's just me.

Chris. Send it too casey at tack ord.
Best to siver solder. Unless you have an 870 bbl with the raised ramp and bead.
If you do then you just place the front sight over the top, epoxy and drill and pin the front sight with a 1 1/6 solid pin.
