Scent blocker sprays ?

IMO, don't bother with it.

Your bath breath, one small fart, double whopper with cheese smell on your hands. You can't cover up your natural odor.

It is like wearing camo, sure works good on humans but how about the deer?

Like other have stated, using the wind and being quiet and motionless is in my opinion the best cover you can use.

Last outing on Saturday evening, wearing clothes I had on all day, black pants , green jacket and red hat. They was standing 30 yards in front of me, one even bedded down for quite some time.

Save your money.

I always laugh when I see someone in a sporting goods store holding a gallon of synthetic deer piss.:D

I guess if you didn't breathe when you hunted the deer wouldn't smell you.

Wasn't there a "gum-o-flauge" marketed once to cover up the smell of your breath?Laugh2

Keep your nose in the wind and they will never smell you.

When that monster, once in a lifetime buck circles downwind of you, would you prefer to take your chances with scent or use every available option to decrease your scent signature?

Be careful with some of this scent blocker while hunting. I accidently oversprayed a bit onto an old army combat scarf, and holy sheepdip! Was that ever a mistake when I breathed some in after wrapping the scarf higher around my face when the weather turned colder. I was very lucky that a nearby provincial park still was open a few miles away across the river valley. End of hunt.
It was if I had a 24 hour flu!!!

won't do that again........

The only time I have ever seen a cover scent work was when I was with some fellows that used skunk scent to cover their own scent. The wind was blowing right at the deer coming in and they showed zero sign of smelling us. However, I am not all that excited to smell like skunk so I don't use the stuff.

This year I watched a deer sniff a branch up down and side ways practically wrapping its lips around it. It then snorted quitely and walked off and away from my stand. I could not figure out why the deer was so interested unitl I remembered I had touched that exact branch for a spilt second while walking in two hours earlier.

No spray will cover scent from those noses.

I use captain black pipe tobacco to cover my scent and i have no trouble shooting a decent buck every year.Don't drive yourself crazy trying to figure out a way to beat an animal that is no where near as smart as all the hype would lead you to believe.I also don't sit in my stand for three hours with a painfully full bladder, just hang it over the side and let it go.Remember if the deer were so smart they would have the gun instead of you;)

I think you've nailed it on the head. Deer are not Einsteins. Even if they smell you and bolt their memory of the event probably lasts about an hour. I have read about this and experienced it myself. This year I missed a shot and my son said I guess we are done for the night as all the deer on a very large field took off in all directions scared by the shot. It was early in the evening so I stayed put. They came out again like nothing happened about 50 min later. Events like this happen every year to me.

Probably a lot of people feel if they go into the woods with product X, Y, and Z they will nail their animal on the weekend hunting trip. Fact is time and persistence is the only real way to score on a regular basis. Once you have found an area that is holding game you have to put in your time. It usually takes me 10 evenings or more to finally score by setting up a good ambush. I'll get busted quite a few times but the deer do not disappear unless some fool chases them with a truck and guns blazing. ( That is a whole other topic). This year I went out over 24 times but my two tags are filled.

I store all my hunting clothes in a plastic tub with a lid, and put in lots of leaves and twigs. When I pull them out in the morning, they smell like a damp forest floor. I have had deer right under the tree stand with me about 12' above, and they were oblivious to me, so it probably does some good.

Did you watch the video?? The theme is that the suit didn't work!

I've had deer within 6 feet of me on the ground who didn't know I was there, in spite of my stinky habits. What does that prove?

Correlation does not prove cause and effect. Correlation without cause and effect is where many superstitions, some neurosis, and marketing programs come from.

Well tonight I have proven that wind is again the main helper/culprit.

I use no scents , special, soaps, or covers.

It was time for me to leave , had two feeding in front of my stand, one wandered off the other stayed.

I figured I would try to get outa my stand without disrupting the meal.

I put on my back pack, picked up my bow, got down the ladder, turned around real slow, deer was still there.I got 10 yards closer from there too!

Maybe if I bought camo I coulda got closer!!! :p

the video didn't prove the suit didn't work, unless you were dumb enough to believe that it would 100% eliminate your scent. But since you still have to breath, I'm pretty sure no one is that dumb. The video did prove that you still have scent despite all these things, and most people have admitted that all along. But I don't doubt the guy in the suit had less scent than if he didn't have the suit.

and having a deer 6 feet from you proves nothing either, other than you either had a stupid deer, or had a favourable wind, probably a favourable wind.

People seem to miss the point that no matter what you do your still going to have scent. But its the volume of scent your trying to control. A lower volume might mean a deer is closer to you before he is spooked. If your looking for an all or nothing control system, your going to have to keep looking.

I want to hunt where you do. If the deer around here were half that stupid we'd all fill our tags on opening day....

This is the point. We're talking scent control, not elimination.

I use scent blocker sprays on my clothes and boots (including the soles). Maybe they work maybe not but I still use 'em. Same with no scent soap and detergent.
