Scent Free Body Wash

Not even the smell of gunpowder bothers mule deer. I have a video of when I was plinking in the mountains with my sks making all kinds of racket and a mulie buck came out and walked right by my target chomping on some grass. Stayed for about 20 minutes before slowly wandering off.

Its amazing how many people are missing the point on this. Yes, hunting technique plays a massive part in overcoming scent. I agree the scent free washes have limited benefit in many cases. If you are using something with a strong scent then something with little scent is an improvement when you are in an area that the deer could come from any direction. I was not looking for advice on how to minimize the impact of scent when i hunt. I was looking for a decent option to replace a product I am using that is a really bad option.

I am told I take it to extremes but here it is. Ivory soap to shower, scent free deodorant, spray down the outer stuff day before with scent killer of choice, scent loc and sometimes two layers, bury my boots half way up in the wife' s horse manure night before, last two of three years I have shot deer opening morning, first light, 6-8ft with a 50 TC Encore. I have also watched my, take no scent measures brother, butt out a smoke to shoot a 30 inch, wide 8 pointer, directly downwind 20 yds, on a brisk morning

If you can’t beat them, join them…

How about forget the uphill battle of masking/eliminating our smells and in stead get them used to our smells.

Here is what I do…about 6-8 weeks before I hunt my favourite spots, I place my well worn and full of my smells piece of clothing(sock, shirt, pillow case etc.) by my tree stand/blind. I do that once a week for the next 6-8 weeks. That is enough time for the deer to get used to my smells and once season opens and I am at my spot hunting, deer will ignore my smells…take it for what it’s worth to you but it has worked well for me.
