Unlikely?!

Was kinda hoping for solid answers not some salty type shouting at the sky. Maybe you could try slam firing - might cheer you up a little?

Sterling is planning a propietary magazine lower after starting with Glock mag lower for their lever action. Maybe Schmeisser can do the same? It would be cool if the two could collab on a common manual action propietary larger box or drum mag!
 
Mag-well looks to be sized to fit normal stanag magazines. It would be nice if they came out with a kit so you could switch it between 9mm and 223.

Never mind. Went back and looked again and there's no way 223 is getting out that ejection port. So then, why would they make the mag-well that large? Don't get me wrong...this is a nice looking rifle, and the first one in a while that I've looked at and said, "Yep! I want one of those!"

I was excited by the idea of getting the Derya...until I learned that the pump did not lock into the forward position like a typical pump shotgun. Perhaps a silly little detail, but it was enough to make me lose interest in the thing.

I'm not into tacticool nearly as much as many others here, but I like the looks of this gun as well, and I hope we can expect better accuracy from it than many have reported about the Derya pump and bolt 9mm's. But...yeah, that big-ass magwell just rubs me the wrong way. Why make it look as though it's a frame designed for the much-larger 5.56 round and then modded for a 9mm? It's been purpose-built for the 9mm-sized ammo; I think they should flaunt that rather than try to hide it.

I have literally never handled a pump that locks but I too wondered about this for the Schmeisser.

I believe the Benelli pumps do that (Nova Speed etc) and it would feel more natural for me as my technique is to pull the firearm in nice and snug but if it didn't lock then I may be tempted to pull it out of battery before pulling the trigger.

Could be a PITA but I guess a guy could train around the issue.

I've never used a pump shotgun or rifle that doesn't lock the slide forward when pumped. We can't be talking about the same thing.

Pretty sure the Taipan pump rifle doesn't lock in the forward position and can be pulled out of battery as I described - watch the below around 1:05 or so

I've never used a pump that doesn't lock up until released by the trigger or the action release.
I know some exist including the Taipan, I've just never used one.

That said I don't mind a push-pull approach so I could probably get used to a taipan or derya, it sort of depends a bit on the reach to the pump what feels best. Push forward Pull rear or both hands pulling the gun to the rear.
