Schmeissor SGT-44 Review

I'll second that enthusiasm. Just had mine out last night for the first time with a variety of ammo and was really impressed. All of the HV ammo I had worked flawlessly, and with the exception of a couple of ftfs with S&B, even the standard 22lr worked well. Even the Federal bulk ran without issue!

I put 350 assorted rounds through it last night, and will do the same in a couple of days without cleaning it to see how it does.

So far, I really like it!

So I was looking around on youtube for some GSG 15 reviews and found that they make an AK47 replica. That would be pretty sweet if it was allowed up here, but something tells me it's prohibited due to it's scary looks...

Waiting to see if the MP40 makes it to the local stores. I have enough .22LR but this looks like it would be a blast to plink with if it is accurate.

Yes, I would buy this as well!!! Love the STG-44!!! Hope they bring them in with both folders and welded, non-folding stocks so that you have the option of restricted or non-restricted with the original barrel length to keep it looking authentic!!!

Aside from wooden or plastic stock and grips is everything else steel or aluminum on these?

There is no plastic stock on the StG44 only real wood. The only plastic part I found is the plastic buffer (damping device) which keeps the breechblock in place. The frame is aluminum alloy and the front barrel jacket (handguard) is steel. The GSG StG44 22LR is very solidly built and as heavy as the original StG 44.

Was the same company making a repro STG chambered in 8mm kurtz?

I know it would be expensive to own, and shoot. But i'd be cool to own a STG replica, i wonder if i'd be a good sporting rifle if it's NA.

Ok, I noticed they had a black model so I figured it was a plastic stock. Thanks for the info

No. The repro StG 44 in 7.92 mm Kurz was made by Sport-Systeme Dittrich also in Germany. This was only a semi-auto carbine. Also, PTR-91 Industries made a several hundred of those carbines under the designation PTR-44 that were sold in the US in the early 2000's. The price was around $6,000, and the guns did not have a good reputation for reliability, so, after a while the production was stopped. More recently, I read somewhere that a new repro StG44 in 7.92 mm Kurz, designated "MP-44" was supposed to be imported to the US in 2015-2016. However, I've never heard about those new batches being sold in the US.

The STG is a beast! From day one I had nothing but fun with it, it does get heavy by the end of the day. Time to hit the gym I guess, haha. I also recently got the GSG15, nice gun as well. Very happy with the product these guys are putting out.
