Schmidt and Bender, can you upgrade the Reticle

A friend has an older S&B 3-12 X 40 scope. He'd like to send it back to have the reticle changed to a Mildot. I Emailed S&B but haven't heard anything back yet. Anybody ever done this or know if it can be done? I know with Leupold or Zeiss you can but don't know about Schmidt?

I was advised by an extensive user of very high end glass to never chhange the reticle but to change the whole scope. His whole career was spent using these for work, fwiw. He would advise to sell the scope and buy the one with the reticle you want as they rarely perform the same once the original factory seals are broken. Not my opinion and have no experience with changing reticles. I do know some high end other make boys and they feel the same and would not do it either and would do the scope swap also.
