Schmidt & Bender Warranty

I'd buy a S&B in a heartbeat if it was in the budget. Warranty or no warranty. I think I've only ever heard of one needing repair. Ever.

None-the-less, a scope in that price range should be guaranteed forever, no questions asked.

And why is everyone so concerned over warranty periods? It's a rare occurrence that you'd need it on a S&B. Everyone seems to be getting pretty accustomed to the frequent trips their Leupold and Vortex take to the shop. It's not par for the course with all optics.

I just want to make sure I am making an informed decision based on all of the proper facts. For instance, if it turns out S&B has longer warranty in North America than in Europe I'll probably go with S&B. If it is only two years I may still go with S&B, but I would have to think long and heard about it then.

If you are worrying about warranty on S&B i would hate to know the conditions you intend on using it in. you will likely surrender before the scope craps out.

Warranty would be a fairly major concern for me when spending that kind of money.. Do some snooping on other sites (Snipershide, etc) and you'll see many problems as of late with S&B.. problems with scopes right out of the box. Lots of people are claiming that something has happened with the quality control at S&B ... I don't own one so I can't say, but when you read about people going 2 for 2 (being duds right out of the box), it makes you wonder.

If you want a great warranty, buy a Leupold or Vortex, then you can add to the numerous threads how spectacular your experience was with their service department.
If you want a top quality optic that probably won't need service, get the S&B. While their written warranty may not explicitly state it, they'll fix it if need be, most times for free.
Here's a thought; have you tried calling S&B about the warranty?
