I seem to have stumbled across Schmidt-Rubin Model 1889 rifle that has been re-chambered to .30-30, the stock looks like it's in pretty good shape, but there is a bit of surface rust on it, and there's no mag. Just wondering if it's worth the $100 the gentleman is asking for it, or should I save my money.

Thanks in advance.

I have one and it's as accurate as I am, (which isn't saying a lot) and 30-30 is easy to find.
I'd say go for it for $100, but it'd depend on how easily (and cheaply) a mag can be aquired, IMO.

With all the work you need to put in seeing all that rust on the bolt and finding a magazine, you may want to get a K31 instead.

I have found two mags for mine in about 20 years of searching. Both had a rifle attached to them. Seems that guys lost the mags a lot as I have seen 3 of those rifles for sale cheap and all had no mag.
