Thought I'd mention this here in case anyone may be looking for one.....

Saw one at Williams Arms dot net, ON (website) listed as in Excellent condition - looked very nice (maybe refinished?). FYI, I've no affiliation with Williams Arms.

Any one know where to get rounds for these, or how to make them?

Buy 284 brass (almost the same and 1/3 the cost, the rim is smaller)

Get a set of 7.5 x 55 swiss dies from Lee.

Re size and load accordingly

You can use 7.62mm bullets with no problem.

Regards

Peter

Has anyone seen a BAD K31? The wood varies a bit but the bores are always pristine. (unless someone who bought them has not taken care ot them)

Exactly. And this guy wants $600 for it. Absolutely out to lunch.
Tradeeex has his for between $240 and $250. Don't believe me? Add put the link together.

Price might depend on condition.

Before the fairly recent imports from the US, they were like hens teeth, unless you knew some Swiss shooters.

Once those are gone , that's IT. Prices will go up to what they were before, if you can find one. These surplus rifles are also very popular in Europe.

Hammerli still sells a post 1970 commercial version. Looks just like the military one , but different serial number series. Price would be over $2,000 Canadian. These are bought brand new by target shooters over there. I know at least four people who own them in Canada. They are the ones that use the S type diopter on the left side of the receiver as oppsed to the K type diopter.

I have 500rds, 100pcs of virgin brass, the shell holder and a brand new doplier sight (front and rear) that I don't think I'm ever going to use.... never did get around to buying the rifle, believe it or not..... (too many irons in the fire as they say)

Oh, just to let you know, the 500rd are worth more that the rifle and yes, it's the real Swiss ammo...

If you want the best you have to pay. I would rather have the one Williams has than 3 of Tradeexcanada has.The gun is worth the money,When have you ever felt sorry for buying the best.

The trigger on the Schmidt Rubin is incredible. I just measured mine on a pull-guage and the firing pin released at a crisp 2.6 pounds!!! :D :D :D Wow. Other military triggers can't hold a candle to the Schmidt Rubin K31. On most you are fortunate indeed to get anything in the 5-6 pound region. Many are 8-10 pounds. My Mosin Nagant is even heavier and mushy to boot! :puke:

It's too bad we don't have easy access to cheap surplus 7.5x55 ammo in Canada like they do down south. :(

I suppose that "cheap" is a relative term. The 7.5x55 isn't cheap compared to say 7.62x54R, but it is still very reasonable. Midwayusa has GP11 for about $0.50/shot if you buy in any quantity. I assume other distributors have it as well.

Epps has norma brass, $70 for 50 pcs.

I am looking into getting Graff brass into Canada. soon...

Regards

Pete
