I have an old s&b scope that I'm wondering what it would be worth
It's an 8x56 no model number as far as I know with a 3 heavy post reticle
Has ring marks and a couple scratches and scuffs but the glass itself is minty
Made in west Germany which makes it a few years old
Would anyone know what his would be worth?
If you leave me a cell # I can text pictures
It is currently missing one turret cap

your reticle is german #1.

you can get the turret from the factory in Germany.

very very good scope for high seat hunting under the moon or night.

try to keep it ....

It is nice glass but I don't have any purpose for it. what would this thing be good for? It would be coyote hunting at night but that's kind of frowned upon in bc

Posting the pics for CamV.

Thanks guys
I have no need or want for it so it'll go up on the EE when I have a new turret cap for it.
$900 seem about right?
I don't want to flog it but don't want to hang on to it forever either

You can try $900, I think there is some older S&B scopes on prophet river or one of the other vendors for reference pricing (+ retail markup)

I recently bought a used 1.25-4x20 S&B scope from a retailer. The S&B badging on it was a match for yours. Serial # puts it around 35yrs old.

It was priced at $500, for quite some time. It had ring marks, and a few scuffs in the finish. Retailer took my offer of $450 cash, taxes paid with relief. Apparently it had been sitting on the shelf for over 5yrs.

New price on an equivalent scope is over $2500.

Used S&B scopes that show blemishes or wear or use are a bit of a tough sell used, as they do not have a warranty after 3 yrs and export fees apply to send it to S&B ($250 on mine, I sent the one I bought in for a check-up) as well as the cost of refurbishment.

In the end I expect to spend around $1000 all in. Which is reasonable for a 30+yr old refurbished scope.

Realistically, your scope is worth "at most" what someone is willing to pay for it! Most savvy buyers want at least 50% off retail for a high end used scope with no warranty.

My $.02
