Scholfield rifle?

A friend had a Scholfield rifle. I've never heard of one. Does anyone know anything about them?

I believe Scholfield was a retailer and sold guns made by other manufactures but marked there name on them

I would have to dig the gun out, but I think it is spelled Scofield on the gun but is recognized as a double named company by the registry. They were an english company around 1900. I have a 8 guage single barreled shotgun made by them and have seen one other advertised on the net.

I have to correct myself; just checked, the name on the barrel is Scholefield, London and Birmingham but the registry lists them as somebody & Scholefield.

Schofeld was a cavalry officer who adapted the already excellent S&W for mounted use and his own .45 cal bullet.
