I really like lever action firearms, and want to purchase one for my next rifle. However, at this time I am trying for commonality in ammunition under my current financial situation so that I can shoot multiple firearms using the same ammo.

For handgun, I have all 9mm
For general rifle, I have all .223
For large rifle, I have all .30-06

Now ideally I want a lever action in .223 or .30-06 as opposed to 30-30, and some of the other common cartridges. However I am more tilting towards the .223 due to the lower power, as a small person I can only shoot so much .30-06 before it becomes uncomfortable.

The only lever action I can find in both .223 and .30-06 is the Browning BLR. HOWEVER I do not like a magazine loaded lever action, I specifically want one with a side loaded tube. Which I can not find in 223 or 30-06.

Anyone know of something I have not stumbled upon?

The bullet tips sort of make it difficult to use in a lever unless theres a Hornady evolution bullet for it, which I am not sure there is. Maybe thats why you wont see .223 in a tube feeder.

Excellent point, that didn't even cross my mind! (pun intended lol)

Go and pick a BLR up, they are fantastic. I handled one in .243 and the balance and beauty are second to none and the rear sight is perfect for that type of rifle, and more robust than the regular old buckhorn or step sight.

Don't say you don't want one until you handle one. Oh and the plus to the removable magazine feed is that you don't have to unload a whole tube to get back into the vehicle.

If you have handled one or shot one then I guess your mind is made up but... you are %*#* outa' luck.

The browning website is showing the lightweight pistol grip stainless and lightweight pistol grip blued both in .223. Great guns, Im considering one right now myself.

Im sure if they were just discontinued then there are many floating around gun shops nationwide still.

I have a Savage 99c in 308 and another with internal mag in 250 Savage. You can buy a new BLR in 308 that is almost a dead match for the 30-06. I have both but prefer to shoot the 308 and it is a nice carry. Balances like a Winchester 94 but a lot more solid. Saw one on the EE a couple of days ago for a lot less than a used BLR would cost.
